Townlet Komiža_Fishermen's village

Visit  still preserved St. Nicholas - the monastery complex from the 13th century, known as Muster. The historical records show that from 16th century Komiza was a leading fishing village in Dalmatia.
    The village has preserved its authentic charm of a fishermen townlet’s harmonious and peaceful way of life in Dalmatia. Join the crowd of local people having a walk or sitting on the benches on the promenade – riva.

 The remains of traditional fishing tools are displayed in the museum located in Kastel - Venetian tower from 16th century, the only one of that kind in Croatia. 

In 1998. UNESCO put the Gajeta FALKUŠA, an autochthonous Croatian boat from Komiža, on its World Heritage list.   
This type of fishing boat had been built only here for 300 years and 
it was the oldest known boat race in Europe.
